Sonamukhi is situated in the northeastern part of the Bankura district and is 44 kms away from the District headquarter Bankura. The total area of Sonamukhi municipality is 8.557 sq. Km. comprising 15 wards, 51 slum pockets, 8 Mouzas, 8000 holdings and 29083 populations (Census-2011).
